Come Grow with Us!

WSCR Community Garden Season 2

Spring is here and gardeners are itching for the first days of warm weather to work the soil and get early vegetables in the ground. Peas, spinach, onions, carrots can be planted directly outdoors as seeds once the soil is workable in late April and early May. Why? The soil in raised beds warms faster in spring and stays warmer longer in the fall, extending our growing season. Until then, planning, sourcing seeds and starting plants indoors reminds us that spring and summer are around the corner.  Community gardening reduces your grocery bill, increases your physical activity and recreation, improves your gardening skills and offers a beautiful, relaxing place to spend time and meet neighbours.
