Proposed East Springbank ASP Amendment – West Springs

An amendment to the East Springbank Area Structure Plan (ASP) is being proposed by the City in response to a Land Use application for re-development of a parcel of land located at the SE corner of 85th St SW and Old Banff Coach Road at a higher density than permitted by the current ASP. The existing property is one of many parcels (about 120 acres) of  (acreage) land in the general area bounded on the west by 85th St SW, OBCR to the north, and 77th St SW to the east and the existing Westpark development on the south.  The City has been working with the landowners on a Master Plan for coordinated development of this last remaining ‘large’ contiguous land base in the West Springs Cougar Ridge community for some time.  The general theme of the Plan calls for slightly higher residential density than is currently allowed in the ASP, which would be more consistent with the direction of Plan It Calgary, the Municipal Development Plan and the Calgary Transportation Plan.

The WSCR Community Association believes it is important for the West Springs Cougar Ridge community to have ample opportunity to be involved in this consultation process and WSCR CA will facilitate that through updates to this website, via our newsletter, and through other means.  The first step in that process was a City sponsored Open House on November 30, 2011.
