What does the Community Association do for us?
The Community Association holds monthly Board meetings, usually the first Tuesday of each month, to discuss and plan for life and issues in our community. These meetings are open to the public. Our city alderman sometimes attends these meetings as well.
The Community Association:
Represents your community to the city
Liases with the city regarding planning and traffic matters such as the West LRT.
Plans and organizes fundraising for the community
Plans and runs community events like:
Community Clean-up
Stampede Breakfast
Youth Soccer Cougar Camp
Homeowners take note: All of the above increases the value of your property.
We have strong community spirit in West Spring/Cougar Ridge. Do your part and join the Community Association and, if you can, volunteer to make it even stronger – we can always use more help and it’s a great way to meet residents of your community!
Please join as a member of the West Springs/Cougar Ridge Community Association.
Renewing your Membership
Starting in December 2011 WSCR is migrating all its membership management to a system powered by Wild Apricot. This will allow us to provide our memberships with secure online credit card payment and easy access to programs and additional features. If you are already a member, please login with your e-mail and password in the box below to have access to your profile and renew your membership with a few clicks of the mouse.
If you have any problems, please email membership@wscr.ca.
Special Note: 2011 Transition to Calendar Based Memberships
Under the Bylaws that existed through to the end of March 2011, memberships were valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, at which time a renewal was necessary. Example: A membership purchased March 1, 2010 would expire on February 28, 2011.
Under the new Bylaws approved by our membership at the Special General Meeting on March 29, 2011, memberships will be calendar based with all expiries occurring on the 31st day of December of each year. Example: A membership bought on January 2, 2011, or one bought on March 5, 2011 would both expire on December 31, 2011. There will be no proration for part year memberships. Ultimately this process makes it considerably easier to both administer and remember membership renewal dates.
To handle the transition in 2011, WSCR CA will grandfather all memberships purchased on, or after, April 1, 2010 to be valid and in full force and effect until December 31, 2011. Example 1: A membership purchased on May 1, 2010 will expire December 31, 2011. Example 2: A membership purchased on March 15, 2010 expired March 14, 2011 and is not grandfathered.
If this is unclear, please email membership@wscr.ca or call (403) 770-8585.
