West Calgary Ring Road

The WCRR  is the final 9km of the Calgary Ring Road from the Bow River Bridge south to Highway 8.

WCRR consists of three projects:

  1. West Bow River Bridge (WBRB) – twinning of the bridge is presently underway
  2. North Project – this is the section south of Bow River highway up the Paskapoo Slopes to Old Banff Coach Road (OBCR).  Awarded this spring as a Design-Build contract (DB1) to EllisDon with construction presently underway.
  3. South Project – includes the interchange of OBCR south to Hwy 8. This project was awarded as a Design-Build contract (DB2) in the Spring of 2020 to Calgary SafeLink Partners, an unincorporated joint venture comprised of Carmacks Enterprises Ltd., VINCI Infrastructure Canada Limited, and Graham Infrastructure LP by its general partner Graham Infrastructure Ltd.

The WCRR North Project is still projected to be completed for the end of 2021.  The South Project has been delayed for a completion date within 2024; in which time the Ring Road will be fully operational.
