WSCR is pleased to offer its Summer Power Skating program at the George Blundun Arena.

This is a great opportunity for children (ages 5-11) to skate through July and improve their skating skills, stride, speed and power with certified coaches.

This program is for hockey and ringette players looking to improve their skatingThis is NOT a learn to skate program. Skaters must be proficient skaters without the support of their stick (can skate forwards & backwards with speed, turn, balance on one skate, stop with speed at minimum).

Registration opens on Friday, June 17, 2022! Space is limited and we expect it will fill up quickly, so don’t delay!

This program is open to members at a cost of $10 per skater per session (see dates/times below). Non-members $45 per skater per session. Skaters can register for 1 or all 4 sessions.

  • Group A – Ages 5-8 – 6:30-7:20pm

  • Group A – Ages 5-8 – 6:30-7:20pm

All sessions will take place at the George Blundun Area – 5020 26 Ave SW


Mandatory for Power Skate participants:

  • Full hockey/ringette equipment is required for each skater (full list below)
  • Parents/Guardians must be in attendance for the session and are responsible for administering first aid to their player if needed
  • Parents and participants should arrive 10-15 minutes early, so kids are suited up and on the ice for their start time
  • Change room number will be listed on the display monitor above the George Blundun Arena (5020 26 Ave SW) doors after entering the facility

Required Equipment List:

  1. CSA certified helmet with full face mask 
  2. Mouth guard (recommended)
  3. Neck guard
  4. Shoulder pads
  5. Elbow pads
  6. Gloves (hockey/ringette)
  7. Ringette or hockey stick
  8. Athletic supporter (males)
  9. Pelvic protector (females)
  10. Pants (hockey/ringette)
  11. Shin pads
  12. Hockey socks
  13. Hockey Skates (plastic adjustable/rec skates will not be accepted)
  14. Jersey
  15. Water bottle w/ water

Pucks and rings are not required. 

A parent/guardian is required to be at the arena at all times. 

Cancellation Policy:

Unless the vacancy can be filled by a participant on the waitlist, there will be no refunds issued.
