Skating

WSCR is pleased to offer its Annual Preschool Learn to Skate program at WinSport’s Markin MacPhail Centre.

This is a great opportunity to introduce your preschool & kindergarten aged children (ages 3-6) to the ice in a fun learn to skate program (designed for ages 3-6) within a close community setting with certified coaches.

Registration is open! Space is limited and we expect it will fill up quickly, so don’t delay!

This program is only open to members at a cost of $20 per skater, per session (see dates/times below). Non-members $50 per skater per session. Each session includes 8 classes.

DID YOU KNOW that you do not need to live in the communities of West Springs or Cougar Ridge to join the WSCRCA. Not a member yet? Sign up here for only $25/year for the whole family. Join Now.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:
Due to the new City of Calgary Vaccine Passport Bylaw (65M2021) introduced last week, to access WinSport’s arena facility, everyone aged 12 and older must now provide valid identification (16+ must be photo ID) and one of the
following:

  • Valid proof of vaccination – At least one vaccination shot as long as the first shot was at least 14 days prior to the day of access (as of October 25, 2021, only 2 shots will be acceptable); OR
  • Valid privately paid lab report indicating a negative COVID test within the last 72 hours. The *written lab report* must contain the following:
  • Name of the lab that did the test (AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories cannot be accepted)
  • Rapid test or PCR test – must indicate type of test and that it is approved by Health Canada
  • Time the test was taken – time test taken must be within the last 72 hours
  • Clear negative result
  • NOTE: Self-administered test is not accepted. Lab must be a recognized, credible lab.
  • Those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons must provide a negative test to ensure the safety of all participants and staff. WinSport does not require proof of medical exemption.

WinSport will continue to check ID and proof of vaccination/lab report at arenas, BNTC and PTC entrances. This includes support* people that are helping children get ready for their ice time. *Face coverings are required to be worn by all individuals ages two and up who enter the facility. Masks may be removed when engaging in physical activity.

Spectators are allowed and must be seated in the stands, but not at the ice level. No group gatherings are permitted in the stands, spectators may only sit with members of their own household. Food and drinks are not permitted in the viewing area at this time. WinSport is working to finalize the arena entrance process and dressing room protocols. Further details will be provided.

For more information on what you need to know to come to WinSport’s arenas, gyms, event spaces and food & beverage facilities, please view our COVID-19 update page here.  This page will be updated as restrictions or guidelines change.
